Situated in the Creuse department, the Soudan castle is an ancient gem of architecture dating back to the 11th century and is one of the rare reminders of the hundred year war (1137-1453). It bears many medieval characteristics from that era including a draw bridge, arrow slits, an round tower and thick walls, some of which reach 3 meters in width.
This impressive structure sits in the heart of the Brenne regional natural park known as the 'land of a thousand lakes' and is surrounded by medieval villages and monasteries. 3 1/2 hours south west of Paris and 45 minutes east of Poitiers, the castle boasts six luxury double bedrooms.
Every room comes with its own en-suite bathroom. Decorated with care, each room has a unique and warm atmosphere that allows you to step back in time. During your stay, you will have the chance to discover the local area on foot down small country lanes or even on horseback. Depending on the season, kayaking and fishing activities can be booked or head on down to the castles very own wine cellar to taste and enjoy local wines.
You will also have the opportunity to take full advantage of your stay here by savouring locally sourced produce, prepared fresh by our chef each day.
